HSBC taps former Citi head to lead its wealth and personal banking business

Ashmita Acharya will take over the post on 18 January 2023.

HSBC Singapore has named international banking expert, Ashmita Acharya, as its new head of Wealth and Personal Banking Business (WPB).

Acharya will start her job as WPB head on 18 January 2023. 

She will report to HSBC Singapore CEO Wong Kee Joo and HSBC Global Insurance and Partnerships, and Interim Head of WPB, South Asia, Greg Hingston.

As WPB head,  Acharya will oversee HSBC's retail banking, wealth management, insurance, asset management and global private banking. 

Before her appointment at HSBC Singapore, Acharya served as Citibank’s retail banking head for Singapore and Asia Pacific head of retail segments.
