EMV Education at the ATM: Are You Sending the Right Message?
By now, you’re probably familiar with the EMV liability shift happening this year – and if your work touches ATM operations at all, you probably have it on a list of things to do.
But checking it off the list entirely can be complicated. Maybe you’re wondering where to start, whether your ATMs are compliant or how to implement the new security method on your ATM network. Maybe you want to know if it really matters, or if you could get by without it.
Meanwhile, your consumers are hearing more and more about EMV, thanks to retailers that have already made the switch. A critical component of your EMV strategy should address consumer behavior changes. It’s a problem we often see when banks and credit unions roll out EMV. They introduce the new technology, but don’t do enough to alert consumers, who may not have realized that EMV was coming to ATMs at all.
Your ATM fleet may include some terminals with a dip reader – and these machines will take extra marketing, on the screen and ideally around the ATM itself, to educate consumers.
Our team has global experience working with retail banks to transition their fleets to EMV. Find out more information about EMV in our latest white paper, then reach out to us with any other questions. With an experienced partner at your side, you’ll be able to confidently implement EMV and educate consumers for the seamless transition you all deserve.
