Chart of the Week: Malaysian banks' bond issuances still lagging

Issuances only totalled US$1.1b in February.

According to Maybank Kim Eng, bond issues in Feb 2017 totalled MYR4.9b (US$1.1b), lagging behind the hefty issuance of MYR11.1b (US$2.5b) worth of bonds in Feb 2016.

"As a result, bond issuances in the first two months of 2017 totalled just MYR6.5b (US$1.4b), about half the size of issuances in Jan-Feb 2016 of MYR13.2b (US$2.9b)."
