Westpac rolls out Copilot to 35,000 global staff
Its teams have already built several AI agents for HR and IT.
Westpac rolls out Microsoft 365 Copilot to its global workforce of 35,000 employees plus contractors and service providers.
The Australian bank is the largest financial services provider in Asia Pacific to roll-out Copilot, according to an online statement posted on 5 February 2026.
A 2025 pilot saw 15,000 Westpac employees in Australia adopt Copilot.
In tandem with the rollout, Westpac is providing AI education, including masterclasses, support resources, and prompt-a-thons.
The move is expected to improve business outcomes and free up employees’ time, it said.
“By helping our teams work more efficiently and access information faster, AI is removing friction so our people can focus on higher-value work. But technology alone isn’t the answer,” said Andrew McMullan, chief data, digital, and AI officer, Westpac.
Westpac’s teams have reportedly built several agents, including for HR and IT, to instantly answer common employee questions and handle simple tasks.
Westpac also has a dedicated innovation sandbox on Microsoft Azure for experimentation and for development of AI-driven solutions, the bank said.
