Citi launches voice biometrics authentication for Asia Pacific clients

It targets a million users within a year.

Citi will roll out voice biometrics authentication for its customers in Asia Pacific in 2016 and 2017, becoming the first bank in the region to deploy the service.

Voice biometrics authentication has been implemented in Taiwan with Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore to follow in the upcoming weeks.

It will be rolled out throughout the region in 2016 and 2017 to cover all 12 of Citi’s consumer banking markets in Asia Pacific.

Citi expects to have at least 1,000,000 customers actively using voice biometrics authentication in the next 12 months. Within three years the bank expects the number of users to grow to 3,000,000

“Biometrics will play a critical part in the future of banking.Today, our call centers in Asia Pacific receive about 35 million calls annually, of which a large portion are manually verified. With voice biometrics authentication, we will make the verification process easier, faster, and more secure for clients,” said Rahul Joshi, Asia Pacific Head for Consumer Banking Operations, Citi.
