Citi and SMRT celebrate 20-year partnership with new card benefits

These include a limited cashback offer for new cardmembers and ringgit savings.

Citi has renewed its partnership with SMRT, a public transport operator in Singapore, celebrating 20 years of partnership between the two companies.

First introduced in 2006, the Citi SMRT credit card was a 2-on-1 solution integrating transit fare payments with credit card benefits, Citi and SMRT said in a joint press release on 1 September 2025.

As part of the partnership and renewal and anniversary, Citi and SMRT has introduced fresh benefits such as a limited time offer of S$400 cash back with $800 qualifying spend in the first two months for new Citi cardmembers.

They are also offering 5% savings on Malaysian ringgit spend for everyday retail and online purchases in Malaysia made between 1 September 2025 up to 28 February 2026.

Current Citi SMRT Cardmembers can look forward to 20-cent treats from popular F&B brands for four weeks starting 19 September 2025.

Between 2019 and 2024, transactions made through digital wallets linked to the Citi SMRT Card grew sevenfold, it said. Over the last three years, new applications from customers aged under 30 grew by 70%.
