Citi appoints Gary Kuo as vice chairman of Asia Global Banking
He will be reporting to Farhan Faruqui, regional Head of Global Banking.
Citi announced the appointment of Gary Kuo as a Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Asia Global Banking. He will join Citi’s Global Banking leadership team in the region, reporting to Farhan Faruqui, regional Head of Global Banking.
“Gary brings extensive senior client relationships and a successful track record to the role. His experience will be highly valuable to our Global Banking franchise as we continue to execute on our Asia and Greater China growth strategies,” said Faruqui.
Kuo joins from Barclays, where he was Co-Head of their Investment Banking business for Greater China. Prior to this, he spent nearly 10 years at Morgan Stanley, joining initially as Head of Investment Banking in Taiwan in 2001. During his tenure, he built one of the leading franchises in Taiwan and was appointed Chairman of Investment Banking for Taiwan in 2006. Kuo was also a member of Morgan Stanley’s Asia Executive Committee, and was closely involved in a range of regional growth initiatives. He has worked with blue-chip clients across the region, including China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan, and has proven experience in expanding businesses. Kuo started his career at Lehman Brothers in 1990.
