Asian banks' funding and liquidity remains a credit strength: Moody's

Banks in Asia are mostly deposit-funded.

Asian banks have moderate reliance on wholesale sources, according to Moody's. They also maintain liquid balance sheets.

Here's more from Moody's:

Banks in Australia, New Zealand are an exception, with a sizeable reliance on wholesale funding; some tangible improvements since 2008.

Banks have scaled back USD commercial paper issuance because of shrinking trade finance business, US money market reform.

China’s small- and medium-sized banks: increasing funding pressures due to high and growing market funding reliance.

Liquidity coverage ratios (LCR) are generally strong for banks, at levels exceeding 100%.
