GCash launches global tap-to-pay via Mastercard and Alipay+
The feature allows GCash users to complete transactions by tapping their NFC-enabled Android phones on Mastercard point-of-sale terminals.
GCash, a fintech platform in the Philippines, has introduced a global tap-to-pay feature that allows users to make contactless payments at over 150 million Mastercard acceptance locations worldwide.
The new service uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology and is enabled through a partnership with Alipay+ and Mastercard.
The feature allows GCash users to complete transactions by tapping their NFC-enabled Android phones on Mastercard point-of-sale terminals.
According to the company, the functionality does not require users to apply for a credit or debit card and works through existing GCash accounts.
The service incorporates security features such as data encryption and user authentication protocols to ensure safe transactions.
GCash says the upgrade aims to deliver both convenience and security in daily payments, whether for small retail purchases or larger transactions abroad.
