Mizuho joins initiative to promote sustainable aviation fuel adoption in APAC
It is the only Japanese company amongst founding members.
Mizuho Financial Group has joined the “Green Fuel Forward” initiative as a founding member.
The initiative was launched by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and GenZero, a decarbonisation-focused investment platform owned by Singapore government fund Temasek.
The initiative aims to promote sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) adoption in the Asia Pacific.
SAF reportedly has the greatest potential to reduce CO2 emissions from international aviation, Mizuho said in a press release, based on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Mizuho is the only Japanese company amongst the founding members of the initiative.
Mizuho said that through its participation in the initiative, it aims to “actively contribute to the scheme to boost SAF demand in the APAC region.”
Mizuho will also help build supply and value chains for SAF by tapping into its extensive industry collaboration as well as providing financial support for SAF-related projects.
