Visa unveils option to switch between debit and credit card in Vietnam

The Visa Flex Credential enables cardholders to do the switch via their bank app.

Visa has announced the launch of Visa Flex Credential, enabling cardholders to switch between debit and credit cards.

Clients of the Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB) will be the first in Vietnam and Southeast Asia to offer this feature, according to a press release.

Visa Flex Credential will onboard more issuers in Vietnam by the end of 2025.

ACB Visa cardholders can now switch between debit and credit cards via the ACB One app. This will enable them to choose between debit or credit for different types of purchases, and redeem loyalty points when checking out, according to Visa.

Visa first launched Flex Credential in partnership with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) and Sumitomo Mitsui Card Company (SMCC), known as Olive, two years ago in Japan.
