Ant International and Google to soon enable AI checkout in chat

Ant International has collaborated with Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol to expand its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

UCP establishes a common language for agents and systems to operate together across consumer surfaces, businesses, and payment providers to enable commerce, Ant International said in a press release.

“So instead of requiring unique connections for every individual agent, UCP enables all agents to interact easily,” it said.

Using the UCP, AI surfaces like the Gemini app or AI mode in Google Search will soon enable users to complete purchases within the chat interface and pay with a single tap via “Pay with GPay”, Ant International said.
