Australia’s big four banks loan deferrals, waive fees for bushfire victims
NAB is providing A$1,000 grants and additional financial relief, for example.
Australia’s big four banks announced relief packages for customers affected by the Victoria bushfires in January 2026.
ANZ, Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), National Australia Bank (NAB), and Westpac have all rolled out relief packages that include home loan and credit card loan deferments or reduced repayments.
They also waived fees and charges for select products and services.
For example, NAB is providing A$1,000 grants and additional financial relief to select customers impacted by the bushfires.
Westpac’s business customers can apply for cash flow support through a temporary overdraft at a discounted interest rate. Temporary overdrafts of up to A$15,000 may be available for small businesses, and up to A$50,000 for larger businesses.
ANZ and CBA are also waiving fees for accessing term deposits early.
