
Bank Pembangunan appoints Maybank Islamic CEO as new chief
Dato’ Muzaffar Hisham is BPMB’s new group CEO.
Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) has appointed Dato’ Muzaffar Hisham as its new group chief executive officer (CEO) effective 18 May 2025.
Dato’ Muzaffar brings over 20 years of banking experience in his new role. Prior to joining BPMB, he had served as group CEO of Maybank Islamic Banking.
Dato’ Muzaffar said that it is “an honour to join BPMB.”
“Together, we will strengthen BPMB’s role as a key development financial institution, dedicated to supporting Malaysia’s socio-economic progress and sustainability ambitions. I am committed to leading our efforts in delivering impact capital for national development,” the new group CEO said.
BPMB chairman Dato’ Sulaiman Mohd Tahir expressed confidence in Dato’ Muzaffar.
Incorporated in November 1973, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad is a development financial institution wholly owned by Malaysia’s Minister of Finance.
It has group total assets of MYR29b as of 31 December 2023. Effective 1 May 2025, EXIM Bank and SME Bank became subsidiaries of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad.
