Malaysia’s SME Bank sees 158% increase in entrepreneurs financed in H1

About 1,632 have benefitted from the Maju Usahawan MADANI programme.

Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia (SME Bank), a subsidiary of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia, said that it has financed 5,735 entrepreneurs in the first six months of 2025.

This marks a 158% increase compared to the 2,225 entrepreneurs it services in H1 2024, according to a press release on 11 August 2025.

As of June 2025, 1,632 entrepreneurs benefitted from SME Bank’s Maju Usahawan MADANI programme, which aims to strengthen the MSME ecosystem through targeted building capacity, the bank said.

Its Halal Entrepreneurship Development Programme has reportedly supported over 400 participants since launching in 2023.

ITs Program Pembangunnan Kapasiti Vendor has onboarded 109 vendors, with MYR15.87m in incentives approved. As of 2024, 28% of the vendors have recorded at least a 5% increase in revenue, the bank said.

Meanwhile, SME Bank XCESS, its flagship business matching platform, generated approximately MYR178m in immediate and potential sales in 2024. Around 450 attendees participated in the business matching platform.
