Commonwealth Bank's NetBank system hit by glitch

The problem was fixed it had been happening for days as NetBank site suffers "intermittent issues."

Hundreds of Commonwealth Bank customers have been left struggling to access their accounts after a technical error interrupted online banking.

However, the bank has declined to elaborate on the root cause of a technical error that interrupted its online banking for several hours on Friday.

Commonwealth Bank customers had been unable to access their accounts, complete bill payments, transfers, and international money transfers after the NetBank shutdown, with some saying they had experienced problems for two days.

The bank said a "communication system failure" had interrupted its services.

A statement posted at the bank's NetBank site last night said : "We are currently experiencing some intermittent issues with NetBank affecting transfers, bill payments and international money transfers.

"NetBank should be working but something appears to have gone wrong."

A Commonwealth Bank spokesman said the problem had been resolved at 8pm.
