Maybank targets to earn its 40% of profit outside Malaysia by 2015

And according to Reuters, it’s now looking to buy a retail bank in Thailand.

Wahid Omar said Maybank wants to earn 40 percent of its operating profit from outside Malaysia by 2015 and aimed to be present in the region's major markets by then.

In the report, he said Maybank would boost its commercial banking business in Thailand through an acquisition although it was not "actively scouting".
