Taiwanese banks to expand in China

Land Bank, Taiwan Cooperative, Chang Hwa Commercial and Taiwan Business to set up branches in China.

Taiwan’s financial regulator has approved applications from Land Bank of Taiwan and three domestic lenders to set up branches in China, the Financial Supervisory Commission said on its Web site on Thursday.

Land Bank and First Commercial Bank each applied to set up a Shanghai branch, while Taiwan Cooperative Bank wants to set up a Suzhou branch, the statement said. Chang Hwa Commercial Bank is seeking a Kunshan branch, while Taiwan Business Bank applied to establish a representative office in the mainland, the regulator said.
