Bank Islam attracts 1 million debit card users

A million customers within a year.

This surpassed Bank Islam's initial target of 800,000 customers for its debit card.

The bank's Managing Director, Datuk Seri Zukri Samat, said the bank was confident the figure would continue to go up with the opening of four more bank branches by year end.

"Four of the branches will be in Sibu, Sarawak, Bandar Kinrara in Kuala Lumpur, Sungai Buloh, Selangor dan Padang Garong in Kelantan.

There are currently 125 branches nationwide with 11 of them in Kelantan.

He also said the bank also expected to see the new branches registering profits within 18 months of the start of their operations.

The most popular Bank Islam products are housing loans, personal financing and corporate loans.
