Taishin launches ATM service for Chinese nationals

Lender is one of 18 enabled to dispense cash for China UnionPay users.

Chinese visitors using China UnionPay cards are now able to draw cash via the 2,000 automated teller machines (ATMs) of the Taishin International Bank.

Available ATMs, to be labeled with UnionPay stickers, are located in major tourist spots such as Shilin Night Market, Keelung Miaokau Night Market and Kenting, as well as in convenience stores such as FamilyMart, HiLife and OK Convenience Store and in Taishin branches across the island, according to a report in China Post.

Taishin is among the 18 banks that have won Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) approval to provide the service. The others are the Bank of Taiwan, Taiwan Cooperative Bank, Shanghai Commercial & Savings Bank, Land Bank of Taiwan, First Bank, Hua Nan Bank, Chang Hwa Bank, Taiwan Business Bank, Taipei Fubon Bank, Cathay United Bank, Mega International Commercial Bank, Shin Kong Bank, Bank SinoPac, E.Sun Bank, Chinatrust Commercial Bank, Bank of Kaohsiung, and Taichung Commercial Bank.

China UnionPay is the only domestic electronic payment network in China with 2.1 billion cards issued. UnionPay cards are accepted in 90 countries around the world.
