Airwallex acquires OpenPay, to compete directly with Stripe Billing
Billing capabilities will be rolled out by Q4, Airwallex said.
Airwallex has acquired OpenPay, a San Francisco-based billing platform, saying that the deal strengthens its position against other players like Stripe Billing and Recurly.
Billing capabilities will be available for both new and existing customers in Q4, according to a press release.
OpenPay features automated features like smart payment routing, AI-driven retention tools, real-time insights, and subscription management for tiered, usage-based, and flat fee models.
Airwallex said that it will bring OpenPay’s billing and analytics capabilities into its global platform.
“By bringing OpenPay’s subscription management, orchestration, and analytics capabilities into Airwallex, we’re creating the first truly global billing platform,” said Jack Zhang, co-founder and CEO of Airwallex.
