Airwallex clinches e-money issuing and Class A licenses in Malaysia

The company plans to double its headcount in Malaysia.

Airwallex has secured approval from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) for its e-money issuing and Class A licenses.

Airwallex said it can now provide its complete suite of payment services in Malaysia. These include payments, multi-currency accounts, foreign exchange (FX), and complex business use cases, it said.

Airwallex already holds a Class B Money Services Business license and is a registered merchant account.

The company has grown its Malaysia team by 66% in 2025 and recently expanded into a new office space with a capacity for over 160 employees. Airwallex Malaysia reportedly plans to double its headcount through 2026.
