Travellers using the e-wallets can pay in over 400,000 merchants via LANKAQR.

Alipay+ is now available in Sri Lanka’s national payment network LankaPay.

Alipay+ will enable 14 of its international payment partners to be used in Sri Lanka via the LANKAQR network. Travellers from 10 countries and regions need simply to scan the QR code available at more than 400,000 merchants to make a payment.

Partner mobile wallets that can be used in Sri Lanka include Alipay (mainland China), AliPayHK (Hong Kong SAR), Hipay (Mongolia), GCash (Philippines), Changi Pay and OCBC Digital (Singapore), Touch ‘n Go eWallet and MyPB by Public Bank Berhad (Malaysia), NaverPay and Toss Pay (South Korea), TrueMoney (Thailand), BigPay (Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand), and Tinaba (Italy).

According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), the launch of Alipay+ represents the biggest acceptance of cross-border payments in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is targeting 3 million tourist arrivals in 2025 and US$5b in tourism-related revenue. Visit arrivals in the island nation rose by 38% in 2024, SLTDA data showed.

Ant International and LankaPay said that they will enable more Alipay+ partner e-wallet acceptance in Sri Lanka and collaborate on joint marketing efforts.
