Alipay+ sees overseas use of payment partner apps triple in 9M 2024

Spending for F&B, attractions, and transportation recorded double-digit increases.

Alipay+ has recorded a 142% increase on payment transactions using the PayNet DuitNow QR method in the first nine months of 2024.

The payments network— which has over 30 payment partners globally— said that the number of people using Alipay+ payment partner apps whilst abroad has risen threefold. The number of transactions has also reportedly increased by over three times, according to a press release.

Spending via Alipay+ increased by 80% on food & beverage (F&B) merchants and 50% for attractions.

Spending via Alipay+ on transportation such as ride-hailing, taxis and trains have more than doubled with a 120% increase. Alipay+ said that this is in line with recent trends to explore destinations more independently.
