Bangkok Bank launches scan-to-pay shortcut

Over 68 million transactions were made using this function in May 2024.

Bangkok Bank has launched ‘Widget’, a scan-to-pay shortcut where customers need only to tap and scan to make a payment.

“It takes no more than 3 seconds and has the same security standards as when paying via the app,” the bank said in a press release posted on its official website.

Over 68 million transactions were made using the scan-to-pay function in May 2024, according to Bangkok Bank. This is 62% higher compared to the same period in 2023.

Noting this, Bangkok Bank launched ‘Widget’, which features a QR code scanning button “outside.” This is expected to reduce the process to 3 seconds instead of the usual 10-15 seconds of opening the app, loading the data, and pressing the scan button.

Customers can begin using the ‘Widget’ feature from 11 July 2024 onwards.
