Taiwan's effective credit cards reach 58.6 million in September
The balance of revolving credit was $20.25m.
The number of effective credit cards in Taiwan reached 58.6 million in September, with 38.63 million classified as active, according to the Financial Supervisory Commission of Taiwan.
The balance of revolving credit was $3.45b (NT$112.6b), whilst the amount of undue balance of installment stood at approximately $6.41b (NT$209.2b).
Moreover, the Commission reported there are 290,000 cash cards, carrying a total loan balance of $322.23m (NT$10.5b). Monthly write-offs amounted to approximately $429,651 (NT$14m), with a delinquency ratio of 1.4%.
Nine specialised electronic payment institutions and 20 additional institutions engaged in electronic payment alongside other businesses.
Stored value cards totalled 185.94 million, with 13.42 million actively used. Monthly retail sales through these cards amounted to $197.33m (NT$6.43b), with a total stored value balance of $459.72m (NT$14.98b).
Electronic payment accounts totalled 29.8 million, collecting $559.77m (NT$18.24b) in monthly transaction funds. Stored value funds reached $872.19m (NT$28.42b), whilst the balance of e-payment accounts at payment institutions was $520.49m (NT$16.96b).
Non-cash payment transactions totalled 6 billion in the first three quarters of 2024, amounting to $18.93b (NT$6.17t).
