MUFG partners with Kodansha, CREDEUS team up to fund film productions
They will fund live-action film series adaptations of Kodansha-published works.
Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) and two of its subsidiaries— MUFG Bank and Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking— have partnered with Kodansha and CREDEUS for an initiative aimed at creating Japanese entertainment titles.
Kodansha is a Japanese publishing company, while CREDEUS is a production company.
The initiative will involve the three entities working together to fund live-action film series adaptations of works published by Kodansha.
WORKS Production, a limited liability company earlier established by Kodansha and Credeus, will create the “world-class titles”.
MUFG-managed WORKS Raising Role, an investment limited partnership (LP), will raise and provide funds for the creation of the titles.
They expect their collaboration to enable production of projects requiring large production budgets to go smoothly.
“We are also planning to set up a reward system for successful creators,” according to a press release.
Hironori Kamezawa, president and group CEO of MUFG, said that the opportunity will provide “new value beyond the framework of finance.”
