Citibank rolls out one-stop mobile account app

Applications can be completed in a minimum of 10 minutes.

Citibank is launching its one-stop Mobile Account Opening Service in Hong Kong, allowing new clients to open bank and investment accounts through one mobile app, according to a press release.

Customers can apply for an account using the Citi Mobile App which can be completed in a minimum of 10 minutes for bank accounts, while three business days are required for investment accounts for address verification. Once approved, the new bank account can be used immediately on the same day. Successful applicants will receive notifications via email and SMS.

Until 31 December, clients who will open a bank account and a Hong Kong Securities Account through mobile can earn a cash rebate of up to $638 (HKD5,000) and a 3% per annum bonus HKD savings rate for two months.
