Karby Leggett appointed Head of Digital Assets at Standard Chartered

The appointment reflects the Bank's response to rising cryptocurrency adoption.

Karby Leggett has been appointed Head of Digital Assets for Greater China North Asia (GCNA), South Asia, and ASEAN within Standard Chartered’s Digital Assets Centre of Excellence.

Standard Chartered said the expanded role reflects the growing adoption of cryptocurrencies, tokenised assets, stablecoins, and central bank digital currencies across the region with clients exploring how digital assets can affect business models and financial operations.

“Karby’s experience with governments, multilaterals, and official sector stakeholders positions him to advance our Digital Assets strategy and support clients across Asia,” said Eric Robertsen, Global Head of Research and Chief Strategist, and Rene Michau, Global Head of Digital Assets in a joint statement.

Leggett will still continue in his role as Global Head of the Official Institutions Group in the Bank’s Global Research team.
