JCB International, Oceanpayment ink joint merchant acquiring business

The JV will allow Oceanpayment to be JCB’s acquiring partner for cross-border payments.

Japanese international payment brand JCB International (JCBI) and Chinese cross-border payments firm Oceanpayment have agreed to a joint merchant acquiring business, according to a press release.

The partnership will allow Oceanpayment to become JCB’s acquiring partner for cross-border payments for the latter’s global cardmembers.

JCB has more than 136 million cardholders and about 33 million merchants as of September last year.
