Ravi Menon reappointed as managing director of MAS

Senior Advisor Goh Chok Tong is stepping down from his position.

Contrary to earlier rumors, Ravi Menon is being reappointed as managing director of Singapore’s central bank for a two-year term at least.

“Mr. Menon will serve as Managing Director until 31 May 2025 or his retirement from the Singapore Public Service, whichever is earlier,” the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) said in a statement.

Media reports from earlier in April speculated that Menon was poised to step down from his position, even naming Chia Der Jiun as his possible successor as chief of Singapore's central bank.

Lucien Wong, attorney general; and Chaly Mah, chairman of NetLink NBN Management, have been reappointed to the MAS board for three more years, until 31 May 2026.

Mah has also been reappointed as chairman of the audit committee for the same duration, MAS said.

Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, meanwhile, will be stepping down from his position as senior advisor to MAS on 21 May.

Goh, who has served as senior advisor since May 2011, previously served as chairman of the MAS board from 20 August 2004.
