JCB expands payment options for UK travel application

This ensures a seamless application process for its 158 million cardholders globally.

JCB cardholders can now use their cards to pay the electronic travel authorisation (ETA) application fee when travelling to the UK, JCB International announced.

Starting 8 January 2025, visitors from select countries and territories will need to obtain an ETA before entering the UK.

The UK’s new border regulations mandate an ETA application fee of $12.66 (£10), payable through the official website. This addition ensures a seamless application process for JCB’s 158 million cardholders globally.

According to Visit Britain’s October 2024 data, inbound tourism to the UK is gradually increasing, particularly from Asian countries. Whilst overall numbers have yet to reach pre-pandemic levels from 2019, Japan has been highlighted as one of the markets showing the strongest growth since 2023.
