Malaysia’s lending grew by 5.5% in Q1 2025
Household loans grew by 6% during the quarter.
Loans to Malaysia’s private non-financial sector grew by 5.5% in Q1 2025.
Household loans grew by 6% in Q1 compared to 5.9% in Q4.
In a statement on its website, the Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) attributed this to sustained growth in outstanding loans and higher growth in outstanding corporate bonds.
Demand for financing also remained forthcoming, the central bank said, especially amongst small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
