
CBA partners with OpenAI for scam and fraud detection, personalised services
CBA employees will progressively get access to OpenAI’s AI tools.
Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) has announced a multi-year partnership with OpenAI to explore generative AI (gen AI) solutions, with the aim of strengthening scam and fraud detection and delivering personalised services.
CBA employees will progressively get access to OpenAI’s AI tools, including its enterprise grade AI solution, ChatGPT enterprise, the Australian bank said in a statement on 13 August 2025.
CBA said that it is also investing in comprehensive training and upskilling programs to increase AI capability and embed the responsible use of AI across its workforce.
Equipping CBA’s people with the most advanced AI tools and capability is a key objective of the strategic partnership, according to Matt Comyn, CEO of CBA.
“Our strategic partnership with OpenAI reflects our commitment to bringing world class capabilities to Australia, and exploring how AI can enhance customer experiences, better protect our customers, and unlock new opportunities for Australian businesses,” Comyn was quoted saying in the announcement.
