ANZ prevented, recovered over A$100m in scam and fraud-related funds

Its customers' financial losses to scams fell by 15%, the bank said.

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) said that it has prevented and recovered over A$100m in scam and fraud-related funds.

Between October 2024 and June 2025, the Australia-headquartered bank said that its customer financial losses to scam activity fell by 15% compared to the previous year.

It said that its first responders team resolved 93% of scam-related calls at first contact and handled nearly 150,000 calls during the reporting period.

The bank had recently launched a digital padlock, and a CallSafe feature in November 2024. The latter has authenticated almost 30,000 customer calls since its launch, according to ANZ.

ANZ said that its Plus customers who kept default ANZ Scam Safe protections enabled were 19 times less likely to fall victim to scams than those who disabled at least one feature.
