Bangkok Bank’s deputy CEO apologises due to system disruption

It caused an inaccurate display of balance in some accounts.

Bangkok Bank’s deputy CEO has apologised to customers following a disruption in the bank’s system on 1 September 2025, Monday.

As a result of the disruptions, the bank’s system did not record the movement of some deposits between six minutes past nine in the evening to eleven in the evening, said Chaiyarit Anuchitwarawong in a statement on the Thai bank's website.

This in turn resulted in inaccurate display of balance in some customers’ accounts.

Bangkok Bank has corrected the affected transactions in customers’ accounts as of 3:30 PM, 2 September 2025, said Anuchitwarawong.

Some customers may find their account balance is negative because they have spent more than their actual account balance, he added.

Anuchitwarawong said that the incident was not caused by a cyber attack.
