NAB’s Ubank expands Passkeys feature to online banking
The digital bank now enables fingerprint or facial recognition logins online.
Ubank, a digital bank operated by the National Australia Bank (NAB), is expanding its login feature Passkeys to include online banking.
Customers who’ve registered a Passkey in the app can use it to log into online banking. This reportedly makes Ubank the first Australian bank to offer Passkeys across both mobile and online platforms.
Passkeys make use of a device’s unlock settings or credential manager, or biometrics such as fingerprints or facial recognition, according to Ubank’s website.
The feature was first launched in August 2024, and 90% of Ubank’s digitally active app users have reportedly embraced it as their preferred login method, replacing traditional passwords and SMS codes.
