Deutsche Bank Malaysia appoints first female chair, new non-executive director

The appointees bring expertise in finance, audit, risk, governance, policy.

Deutsche Bank Malaysia Berhad (Deutsche Bank Malaysia) appointed Datin Wan Daneena Liza binti Wan Abdul Rahman (Datin Wan Daneena) as Chairperson and Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Dato’ Seri Zain Al-‘Abidin ibni Tuanku Muhriz (Tunku Zain) as Independent Non-Executive Director to its board, reflecting the bank's commitment to strong governance, board independence, and long-term dedication to Malaysia.

Datin Wan Daneena is the first female to hold the position in the bank’s history in Malaysia.

A Chartered Accountant with the ICAEW and a member of MIA, she brings over 25 years of experience to the bank. Datin Wan Daneena holds a First-Class Honours degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol and began her career with KPMG London, later serving as a senior partner in Ernst & Young Malaysia’s Financial Services Assurance practice.

She also holds board positions on PLUS Malaysia Berhad, S P Setia Berhad, and Wasco Berhad.

Tunku Zain, the Founding President of IDEAS, brings extensive public policy and governance expertise to the Board. He holds an MSc in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and has experience with the UK Houses of Parliament, the World Bank, and UNDP.

He has also held roles with Allianz Malaysia Berhad, Allianz General Insurance Company, and Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia. Zain currently serves as Chancellor of UCSI University and Pro Chancellor at USIM, whilst acting as a trustee of several foundations.
