Hatton National Bank enables debit cards on Google Wallet

Customers can now tap-to-pay using their phone or with smart watches.

Hatton National Bank (HNB) has enabled its debit cards to be added to Google Wallet.

Customers can tap-to-pay at contactless enabled terminals using their phone, make payments through supported websites and apps without re-entering card details each time, and use supported smartwatches or fitbits for quick payments on the move, HNB said.

The Sri Lankan bank worked with BPC SmartVisa to use their current debit cards for digital transactions.

HNB is one of only three private sector banks in Sri Lanka that is designated as a domestically systemically important bank.
