Standard Chartered appoints Shebani Baweja as group chief data officer
She will shape the bank’s data strategy and the direction for how data is governed.
Standard Chartered (SC) has appointed Shebani Baweja as group chief data officer, effective immediately.
Baweja, who will be based in Singapore, is tasked with shaping the bank’s data strategy. She will set the direction for how data is governed, managed, and used across the organisation, SC said in a statement on 28 May 2026.
She is expected to build strong data foundations, embed consistent practices, and accelerate the use of data and analytics to support growth, innovation and better decision-making in SC.
She is most recently chief information security officer (CISO) for WRB and international markets.
Baweja has worked with SC since 2008 and has held senior roles across wealth and retail banking (WRB), and T&O transformation.
