TransUnion offers free credit report to HK residents who lose their HKID
They can schedule an appointment online within 30 days of the loss.
TransUnion is launching a one-time free credit report per year for eligible individuals who lost their Hong Kong Identity Cards (HKID).
Affected individuals can claim their report by scheduling an appointment online within 30 days of the loss and presenting the required documentation in-person at TransUnion’s Hong Kong office.
TransUnion said it aims to provide affected individuals immediate visibility into their credit profile after the loss of their IDs, and to help minimise potential financial losses from identity theft.
More than a third (34%) of Hong Kong consumers surveyed in TransUnion’s H1 2026 fraud report said that they lost money due to digital fraud in 2025.
Hong Kong recorded the highest media fraud loss globally at HK$48,000, the same study found.
