China CITIC Bank Int'l completes first Hong Kong gold clearing trades

It is amongst financial institutions who are first to participate in the system.

China CITIC Bank International (CNCBI) has completed its first gold transactions in the Hong Kong Gold Clearing and Settlement System.

The clearing and settlement system commenced trail operations on 7 July 2026.

CNCBI is amongst the first participating financial institutions in the settlement infrastructure, it said in a statement.

CNCBI shared plans to help connect and develop the gold trading services of Hong Kong and Shanghai.

“From a strategic perspective, CNCBI will play to its strength as a bridge between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland while deepening collaboration with the Shanghai Gold Exchange and financial institutions in the Chinese Mainland, with an aim of supporting the HKSAR Government’s initiatives to drive interconnectivity of gold products,” the bank said in a statement published on 7 Ju
