Hong Kong has 30 billionaires

Most originally came from the mainland, however.

A new study by research firm Wealth-X and UBS shows that China has a total of 157 billionaires, the biggest increase of any country in the world between July 2012 and June 2013. Tiny Hong Kong has 30 billionaires, 18 of whom originally came from mainland China. Many mainland companies incorporate in Hong Kong, which is also where individual billionaires base the headquarters of their primary business. The reports, however, said the rapid growth of Chinese billionaires could be ending. It warns that the threat of a real estate bubble in China could have a negative impact on Chinese billionaires in the future. It revealed that property is the primary business of 6% of mainland Chinese billionaires and 27% of Hong Kong's. The average mainland Chinese billionaire holds only US$240 million in cash compared with the US$567 million in cash held by the average billionaire everywhere else in the world.
