Taiwan, China agree to beef-up banking management pool

Sign a cooperation agreement on cultivating and training financial talent.

The Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance and Xiamen International Finance and Management Institute signed the cooperative financial talent cultivation and training pact at the opening ceremony of the annual cross-strait Forum on Finance in Fujian province's Xiamen.

The signing was witnessed by more than 200 top financial executives from Taiwan and the mainland. Twelve banks from both sides also signed financial cooperation pacts.

Deputy Xiamen Mayor Guo Guirong said that as many as 24 Taiwanese banks have signed cooperation pacts with 48 Chinese banks operating in Xiamen. He said that as of May, Chinese banks in Xiamen had recorded US$4.5 billion in financial exchanges across the Taiwan Strait.
