MUFG and JCB to offer card products for ASEAN’s affluent market
Their cards will offer exclusive benefits in Japan, with deposit and investment services.
MUFG Bank and JCB have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) targeting affluent customers and the digital payments space in the ASEAN region.
The two Japanese companies will offer card products that provide “exclusive and unique experiences and benefits in Japan” for affluent customers based in ASEAN, according to a statement in July 2026.
The cards will be linked to financial service such as deposits and investments.
To start, MUFG and JCB plan to issue a new premium card in Indonesia within the fiscal year, which will be JCB’s highest-tier card ever issued outside Japan, the statement said.
MUFG and JCB will also consider expanding cross-border payment solutions and mobile services, targeting ASEAN’s digital payment ecosystem.
