Taiwanese banks extended more SME loans in December

Average NPL ratio declined by 0.01 percentage point.

Taiwan’s domestic banks extended NT$10.34t in loans to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in December 2024, a NT$71.2b increase compared to November, according to data from the Financial Supervisory Commission of Taiwan.

Loans extended to SMEs accounted for 64.69% of total loans extended to all enterprises, and 68.52% of private businesses.

The average non-performing loan (NPL) ratio of the SME loans was 0.23% as of December 2024, a decline of 0.01 percentage points compared to the previous month.
