Vietnam’s HDBank clinches $50m loan to finance green projects

Green projects have the potential to create over 1,350 jobs in the country.

Vietnam’s HDBank has secured a $50m loan from Proparco, the French Development Finance Institution, to finance green projects and promote sustainability in the country.

In a press release, the bank said that the loan will help it get closer to international standards of green credit.

All projects funded by HDBank reportedly satisfy green criteria. The criteria include reducing energy consumption, lowering CO2 emissions, decreasing pollution, and targeting sustainable growth.

Green projects promise to create more than 1,350 direct and indirect jobs over the coming years, and will contribute to achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, HDBank said.
