Citi strengthens ANZ team with Jefferies, JP Morgan, Credit Agricole hires

Paul Buys joins from Canaccord Genuity as head of research for Australia and New Zealand.

Citi Australia and New Zealand has made several key appointments to its Research and Markets businesses.

Paul Buys has been appointed head of research for Australia and New Zealand. He will be appointed a managing director and sit on the Australian and New Zealand executive committee of Citi. He joins from Canaccord Genuity, where he is head of research.

Buys was also previously deputy head of APAC securities research for Credit Suisse.

Buys will succeed Paul McTaggart, who will retire at the end of the year after a 30-year career in sell-side research.

Markets business appointments from Jefferies, JP Morgan
Citi is also growing its Markets business with four new hires and one promotion.

Christian Ford has been named as director, Equities High Touch Execution. He was most recently with Jefferies Australia as a managing director and head of sales trading.

Andrew Bruce has been appointed as director, head of Low Touch Execution. Bruce brings over two decades of experience in financial services, most recently as an executive director of the Global Equities team at JP Morgan.

Nicolas Lebon has been named as director, Corporate Solutions Group. He joins from Credit Agricole CIB, where he worked as a director in Global Markets Sales. 

Dan Smith’s role has been expanded to cover head of Australia, Prime Finance in the equities business.
