Payment firm Nium now a registered financial service provider in New Zealand
It plans to offer virtual accounts, and debit and prepaid cards, amongst other services.
Cross-border payments company Nium has clinched approval to become a registered financial services provider in New Zealand.
The Singapore and US-headquartered company said that this marks the first step to offering financial services in New Zealand. These services could reportedly include virtual accounts, debit and pre-paid cards, funds collection, and global payouts.

Nium now has licenses and registrations that cover more than 40 countries globally. In 2024, Nium has also received approvals and in-principle approvals in Japan and India.
It also comes in the heels of a recently announced partnership with Weel, Australia's leading spend management platform as a card-issuing partner.
