Citi’s new Singapore head is first local to hold the position in 50 years

Citi has appointed Lee Lung Nien as Citi country officer and banking head for Singapore.

Lee is the first Singaporean in 50 years to hold Citi’s most senior position in the city, according to a press release on 15 September 2025.

In his new role, Lee is tasked with overseeing all Citi businesses and operations in Singapore. He is expected to drive franchise performance, manage key client and regulatory relationships, and ensure a robust risk and control environment, the bank said.

Lee has worked with Citi for 35 years. He most recently served as chairman of Citi Private Bank for South Asia, a role he has held since 2020.

He has also previously served as CEO of Citibank Berhad in Malaysia and various senior positions in AML, operations, corporate sales & structure, and markets.

Lee takes over Tibor Pandi, who departs after 8 years in Asia.

Lee reports to Amol Gupte, Citi’s head of Asia South. Lee will also join the Asia South Management team on 6 October 2025.
